Our Peeps: Ponemah Bog Volunteer Spotlight

Our Peeps: Ponemah Bog Volunteer Spotlight

NH Audubon would like to share its deep appreciation for the Friends of Ponemah Bog, who care for our sanctuary in Amherst, NH. These volunteers had an impressive year creating and installing a new educational kiosk, repairing and replacing boardwalk and platform components, and placing new nesting boxes for Wood Ducks, bluebirds and owls. We are grateful for the time and talents of Bob Wheeler, Fred Prifty, Glenn Wallace, Marti and Tom Warren, Steve Desmarias, David Bell, Laura Pagano, Liz Knight, the Soughegan High girls’ cross-country track team, Gary Emberger, Cathy Kenny, Mark Radwan, Mark Worwetz, Sandy Ostman, Loraine Bauman & Jim Mixon, Miki Foley, and especially George Rollend.

George has provided the energy, enthusiasm, and ideas that have helped transform ‘the Bog’ into a vibrant outdoor classroom, and has worked tirelessly to enhance the stewardship of this special place. He is the rare volunteer who coordinates other volunteers and does it diligently and with a great degree of professionalism. It takes a village of volunteers to keep special places like Ponemah Bog going strong, so we thank ALL of these volunteers for their many individual contributions during 2020.
