One of NH Audubon’s longest running educational programs is our Urban Wildlife series. This series of four, in-classroom environmental education programs are available for free to all public-school 3rd graders in Manchester thanks to a partnership with NH Fish & Game and US Fish & Wildlife Service. During this program series, the students learn about the wildlife with whom they share their urban environment through lessons on habitats, mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Through these lessons, the students get to experience live animal encounters with our animal ambassadors, interactions with tangible props and wildlife artifacts, as well as movement-based learning opportunities and games.
Over the 2024-2025 school year, NH Audubon facilitated 84 programs at 6 different Manchester public schools. That represents a 40% increase from the previous school year! The students (and teachers) love these programs as is evidenced by the following photos:
NH Audubon is excited to continue inspiring the next generation of nature stewards to be excited about protecting their urban wildlife neighbors!
