Since 2005, NH’s State Wildlife Action Plan (SWAP) has been a blueprint for protecting NH’s habitats and Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN). Every 10 years, NH Fish and Game’s Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Program works to update the SWAP in collaboration with other NH Fish and Game departments, state and federal agencies, and nonprofits. For the past two years, biological experts and conservation partners across the state have worked together to update the SGCN and habitat lists, re-evaluate the threats facing these species and habitats, and develop new conservation actions to protect them. By identifying the species and habitats most in need, NHFG, conservation organizations, towns, other state agencies, and all NH residents can focus their efforts where action is needed most. Rooted in collaboration and guided by science, the NH SWAP lays the foundation for successful conservation in the decade ahead. However, the success of the NH SWAP depends on the knowledge and perspectives of all Granite Staters. NH Fish and Game would love to hear from you! Your feedback will help make sure the NH SWAP reflects what matters most to our communities and local wildlife. Visit here to read the draft plan and submit your comments and questions here.
