Sometimes it is impossible to schedule programs around natural phenomena ahead of time. Many wonders of nature, such as the springtime movements of frogs and salamanders or fall migration of Monarch butterflies, are heavily weather-dependent. To share these unusual experiences with you, we invite you to join the mailing list for NH Audubon Pop-Up Programs!
How it works:
- Sign up for Pop-Up Programs with NH Audubon
- 2-4 weeks ahead of an upcoming Pop-Up Program, mailing list recipients will receive an email with the program description and 7-day scheduling window for upcoming research demonstrations and nature experiences
- 36-48 hours ahead of the program, we will send email list recipients a confirmation email with the precise Pop-Up Program Day and time, plus a link to RSVP
- RSVP to any Pop-Up Programs you wish to attend
Programs for June may include: Pollinator Prowl and Moth Madness
Pollinator Prowl: Pollinators have evolved alongside flowering plants for millions of years, forming a symbiotic relationship essential to life on Earth. Pollinators are key to plant reproduction, which yields the fruits, vegetables, flowers, and seeds that sustain our diets. New Hampshire is home to over 200 species of bees, 130 species of butterflies, thousands of other pollinating insects, and the beloved Ruby-throated Hummingbird. In honor of International Pollinator Week, join biologists Lindsay Herlihy and Diane DeLuca to prowl through the McLane Center Pollinator Meadow to catalog and learn about as many pollinator species as we can find.
- Sign up here. (Estimated Scheduling Window: 6/21-6/23)
- Moth Madness: Moths are important pollinators, but they are often overlooked due to their tendency toward nocturnal activity, often cryptic coloration (especially compared to butterflies), and identification challenges. In honor of National Moth Week, join biologists Lindsay Herlihy and Diane DeLuca to see these incredible insects in action, learn how to go “mothing” in your own backyard, and contribute to a national participatory science effort tracking moth species distribution via iNaturalist.
- Sign up here. (Estimated Scheduling Window: 6/22-6/26)
