Our Peeps: Lauren Betz

Welcome NH Audubon’s new Director of Education, Lauren Betz!

Lauren grew up exploring the caves and rolling hills of western Kentucky, though her admiration of great international conservationist educators in her early years inspired a desire to wander. She’s collected a wide array of life experiences from camp directing to mentorship of budding field researchers to animal training in places like Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ecuador, and here in our beloved New England. Lauren holds a BA in Biology with a specialization in Behavior – and a minor in Deaf Studies – from Boston University. As our supervisor of all things education, Lauren brings a breadth of knowledge across live animal care, nature camp programs, school partnerships, and more. In addition, she is no stranger to gardening, having spent several seasons as a sustainable produce farmer, where she could often be caught admiring Sandhill Cranes and Killdeer in the fields instead of pulling weeds.

Lauren enjoys spending time outside with her dog (a German shorthaired pointer who loves hiking, camping, kayaking, and bikejoring), cooking, reading fantasy novels, practicing yoga, and playing games of all kinds. From a deeply musical family, Lauren also enjoys theater, playing the cello, and singing. She is excited to have the opportunity to cross-country ski again and is looking forward to exploring the trails.
