Recent Grant Awards to NH Audubon

New Hampshire Audubon is grateful for generous grants recently awarded from the following charitable supporters:

  • NH Audubon received grants from the Butler Foundation and the Davis Conservation Foundation to support longitudinal analysis of data spanning over three decades collected through the Backyard Winter Bird Survey, an extensive dataset that provides important insight into how winter bird populations are changing over time. This grant-funded project includes online dissemination of findings through interactive webpages that will inform conservation efforts and highlight the power of participatory science.
  • The Butler Foundation awarded NH Audubon a grant to support the collection and analysis of Rusty Blackbird movement data from the Motus Wildlife Tracking System, a research tool made possible thanks to previous generous grants from the Butler Foundation. This project includes detecting Rusty Blackbird pairs, locating and monitoring their nests, capturing and banding adults and nestlings, tracking tagged Rusty Blackbirds using nanotags, and analyzing migration data collected by the Motus network.
  • The Benjamin Couch Trust granted funds to support NH Audubon’s monarch butterfly tagging efforts and pollinator habitat gardens at the McLane Center in Concord, NH. Ongoing support from the Couch Trust for this specific work has led to improving scientific understanding of pollinator behavior and migration, increasing public awareness and participation through educational programming and volunteer opportunities at the McLane Center, and demonstrating effective conservation practices through accessible, ecologically rich pollinator habitats.
