Timber Rattlesnake Awareness

(by Lucy Murayda)

The Timber Rattlesnake is New Hampshire’s only venomous snake and is critically endangered, with just one known population left in the state. Though often misunderstood, these snakes are shy and non-aggressive, playing a key role in controlling rodent populations.

This World Snake Week, take time to learn about and support this rare species. Avoid disturbing rocky habitats, share the facts—not the fear—and help protect one of New Hampshire’s most threatened reptiles.

Let’s replace fear with respect and ensure the Timber Rattlesnake has a future in our forests.
