What’s the Scoop on Saw-Whets? – Newfound Nature Series – August 5

This event has passed.

August 5 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

August 5, 2025.

What’s the Scoop on Saw-Whets?

Lindsay Herlihy (NH Audubon/Black Mountain Banding Station)

Northern Saw-whet Owls are the smallest nocturnal raptor in New England. These fierce, tiny predators have a secretive nature that makes them challenging to study. Saw-whets are also one of the few owl species in North America which undertake an annual migration in fall and spring. So, how do biologists study owls and what do we know about Saw-whets in New Hampshire? Join biologist Lindsay Herlihy to learn more about the natural history of Northern Saw-whet Owls and discover how researchers are investigating the migratory behavior of this incredible species.

Held on Tuesdays, 7:00–8:15 pm
Join us for our Newfound Nature Series (the new name for our beloved Red Barn Speaker Series) on Tuesday evenings. The series is now held at Grey Rocks and co-hosted by the Newfound Lake Region Association (NLRA). Registration is not necessary – just come and join us for an evening’s entertainment!

Thank you to our season sponsors: John S. Jordan Design, and the Hebron Conservation Commission.
