Join us in welcoming Michael Whittemore to the New Hampshire Audubon Staff as our new Director of Lands and Ecological Management.
A native of Massachusetts and a graduate of Ohio University’s MS in Environmental Studies, Michael brings with him years of conservation experience in New England with an interest in regional land management and research of imperiled habitats. Previously, he was the regional Ecologist for Central Pine Barrens Commission on Long Island where he oversaw research and planning for the 100,000-acre Central Pine Barrens. Prior, he was the Stewardship and Restoration Manager for Cape Cod & Islands at The Nature Conservancy where he managed the program and led research and restoration for imperiled habitats.
Michael’s love for the outdoors extends far past his career. In his free time, he loves to fish, hike, trail run and paddle. One of his favorite experiences was hiking the 115 4,000-foot mountains in the northeast including the 48 of the White Mountains in New Hampshire. He has always been drawn to the diversity, beauty, and importance of the New Hampshire landscape and is beyond excited to make an impact at NH Audubon!
