In early July, UNH Extension Master Gardeners harvested about 35 pounds of produce, including cabbage, lettuce, peas, and various herbs that were then donated to the New Horizons Shelter in Manchester. Local wildlife has also sampled the garden’s offerings, including a number of black swallowtail caterpillars who recently feasted on our dill plants! The Vegetable Gardens at Massabesic are a feature of the Demonstration Gardens which provide a place for sharing best practices in ecofriendly home and community gardening to benefit wildlife habitat and human health and well-being. Consider attending one of our upcoming workshops!
