Our Peeps: Slater Roosa

Our Peeps: Slater Roosa

We are pleased to introduce Slater Roosa, Massabesic Center’s new Education Coordinator. A born and bred New Englander, Slater received a B.S. in Biology from Salve Regina University, where he fostered his love for environmental science. He worked full-time on a research vessel studying near-shore organisms before pivoting to non-profit work with Clean Ocean Access in Rhode Island.

Slater Roosa joins the team at Massabesic Center!

After graduation, Slater found his calling in Oregon, where he spent the last six years teaching nature programs, running summer camps, and caring for animal ambassadors. We initially hired Slater last summer to fill a need for a part-time event coordinator. He stepped up to help with raptor care and interpretive programming at McLane Center and quickly proved that he would be a great fit for our education team.

In his new role, Slater has hit the ground running, filling our calendar with birding hikes, birthday parties, school field trips, and animal ambassador meet-and-greets. His wealth of outdoor education experience, animal care experience, and extensive birding knowledge will keep our visitors engaged year-round. Visit Massabesic Center to welcome Slater to the team!
