DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, June 25th from 9:30am-2:30pm \nJoin us for a BioBlitz in the New Hampshire Audubon McLane Center pollinator habitat! We are looking to engage others to help us learn more about all that is living in our pollinator habitat. A BioBlitz is a community science effort where volunteers help find and record data on as many different species (plants\, animals\, insects\, fungi) within a designated location and time period. We are excited to have a number of local experts who will join us to lead participants as we explore the biodiversity on this site. \nSchedule \n9:30am: Introduction to the BioBlitz \n10:00-11:30am: Expert led field trips (choose one) \n\nEmma Erler\, Horticulturist for Squam Lakes Natural Science Center: Pollinator Plants\nHeidi Holman\, Wildlife Habitat Biologist for NH Fish and Game: Butterflies\nMike Thomas\, retired entomologist for USDA: Insect Pollinators\nPollinator Garden volunteers: Pollinator Garden\nIndividual exploration\n\n11:30-12:30: Break \n12:30-2:00 Expert led field trips \n\nSame as above\n\n2:30: Wrap-up \nShare out our findings \n*also\, the Nature Store will be open! \nRegistration is required for this free event (group numbers will be limited with each expert). The display will be up for public view from June 3-29 in Concord during regular center hours Tuesdays-Fridays from 11am-4pm. \nFrom the Ground Up – A Forester’s View \nIngeborg Seaboyer is a lifelong resident of Derry\, New Hampshire. Her art education has stretched from Pinkerton Academy to the University of New Hampshire to the Manchester Institute of Arts & Sciences (now the New Hampshire Institute of Art) where she began to explore pen and ink drawing in 1993. A forester with the State of New Hampshire Division of Forests and Lands\, her drawing has turned into something of a second career. Her works draw on her lifetime in fields and forests of New England; truly viewing those rural landscapes from the ground up. \nIngeborg has illustrated three books: Selecting Trees for Urban Landscape Ecosystems\, and Good Forestry in the Granite State 1st and 2nd Editions. She provided most of the illustrations for Project Learning Tree’s Focus on New Hampshire Forests. Additionally\, she has completed commissions for the New Hampshire Timberland Owners Association\, the New Hampshire Tree Farm Committee\, the Granite State Division of the Society of American Foresters and UNH Cooperative Extension. She often combines watercolor and colored pencil with her pen and ink techniques\, as well as working solely in watercolor. DESCRIPTION:Beginner Botany is our first Buds & Blooms program. From the air we breathe to the clothes we wear\, our relationship with plants far exceeds consumption. Let’s investigate the many ways we interact with our botanical buddies while exploring the McLane Center’s Pollinator Garden. We’ll learn how it is that plants create their own food before oftentimes becoming a food source for someone else!  A scavenger hunt to put our new botanical knowledge to use will conclude this interactive program.  \nIntended for kids and families\, the Buds & Blooms Series is a compilation of five in-person public programs intended to introduce participants to the magic and wonder of our native plants and pollinators. Occurring monthly through October\, each program highlights a topic pertaining to pollinators and includes an interactive activity as well as a take away. DESCRIPTION:Join New Hampshire Audubon and collaborators from UNH Cooperative Extension and the Xerces Society for a site visit on Creating Pollinator Habitat  \nSaturday\, November 20: 10AM – 12 Noon \nAs a follow up to the Webinar\, an in-person walkthrough of the McLane Center project to learn more will occur on November 20 from 10am-12pm. We will gather at the McLane Center in Concord to view the progress of converting one acre of old field to a pollinator meadow. NH Audubon with the help of our collaborators are using a variety of techniques across one acre to better access what preparation methods work best at this scale. The field trip will allow participants to see and more fully discuss the details of field prep and seeding. \nThis event is free and open to the public. Registration/RSVP is requested.
