SUMMARY:Birding Outing at the McLane Center (Great Turkey Pond Loop)
DESCRIPTION:Join NH Audubon for a birding outing along the Great Turkey Pond loop at the McLane Center in Concord\, NH. We will meet in the parking lot in front of the main building. \nThis is an informal birding outing that begins at the McLane parking lot and explores the trails with local birder and NH Audubon volunteer (and former wildlife biologist)\, Mark Suomala. All ages and skill levels of birders are welcome. If you are new to birding\, come and learn the basics! If you are an avid birder\, come to learn new techniques\, network with other birders\, or share your expertise with the group. \nThis is a free event. Binocular rental is provided. Please dress for the weather\, with sturdy shoes. Expect to walk between 1-2 miles over mostly flat\, but uneven trails through grassy and wooded terrain. Trails may be soggy or muddy in the rainy season. Dogs are not allowed on this walk.

DESCRIPTION:“Native New Hampshire Birds” Exhibit: September 12-November 2 \nArtist Shannon Bender has enjoyed creating from a young age. The journey for this series started last year. She wanted to create a theme that Upper Valley residents could relate to. Being in an area with so many that take part in bird watching with a variation of birds\, she thought\, “What a joy for people to see some of the many species that we have here in a painting series.” \nIn addition\, the exhibition displays the different characteristics of each bird. Each original piece takes anywhere between 17-65 hours of strategic feather painting and many layers of acrylic which bring the painting to its final resting state. \n(Collage of paintings from the exhibit\, by Shannon Bender.)\nBio: Shannon is an alumnus of Canaan Elementary School and Mascoma HighSchool. She studied Fine Arts at Lassell College in Massachusetts for a time. \nIn the Mascoma District\, she worked as a Special Paraeducator for 10 years. SUMMARY:Birding Outing at the McLane Center (All Persons Trail)
DESCRIPTION:Join NH Audubon for a birding outing along the trails at the McLane Center in Concord\, NH. We will meet in the parking lot in front of the main building. \nThis is an informal birding outing that begins at the McLane parking lot and explores the trails with Paradise Point coordinator and NH Audubon educator Devin Guilfoyle. All ages and skill levels of birders are welcome. If you are new to birding\, come and learn the basics! If you are an avid birder\, come to learn new techniques\, network with other birders\, or share your expertise with the group. \nMcLane provides various types of bird habitats\, including forest\, grassland\, and edge habitats. We can expect to see yearlong residents of New Hampshire\, including White-breasted Nuthatches\, Dark-eyed Juncos\, and Wild Turkeys. \nThis is a free event. Binocular rental is provided. Please dress for the weather\, with sturdy shoes. Expect to walk between 1-2 miles over mostly flat\, but uneven trails through grassy and wooded terrain. Trails may be soggy or muddy in the rainy season. Dogs are not allowed on this walk.
