SUMMARY:Ode to the Birdhouse Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Visit the McLane Center 7/2-8/23 to see the Ode to the Birdhouse series by Pam Tarbell. \n“I have always been fascinated with birds as I looked out the windows as a child. Now\, I watch the local bird population plus the migrating fowl and hawks\, which continues to fascinate me. \nAs an artist\, I listen to music while painting\, which helps to create movement in my art. I made the simple shape of a birdhouse\, several patterns of birds\, and then added leaves to create a complex overlapping of colorful designs. Several of my paintings became visual puzzles for the eye as birds are camouflaged in their environment.” \nExamples from the Ode to the Birdhouse exhibit\,\nBio: A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and a United States Art Embassy Artist. Tarbell exhibits nationally\, and in 2023 had a solo exhibit at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. In 2024\, she was commissioned to paint the awards for the New Hampshire Committee for the Arts Gala Awards Celebration. She just concluded a solo exhibit at the Mass Audubon in Belmont\, MA. \nShe has served on numerous boards and committees advocating for the arts in New Hampshire. In 2015\, she received an “Outstanding Woman in Business Award” from NH Business Magazine\, as director of the Mill Brook Gallery & Sculpture Garden for twenty-two years. \nTarbell enjoys painting bright\, complicated compositions\, hoping that the viewer will always continue to find interesting elements in her paintings. \nHer gallery is open by appointment: 603-496-2014. You can visit her website to sign up for her newsletter.

DESCRIPTION:Visit the McLane Center 7/2-8/23 to see the Ode to the Birdhouse series by Pam Tarbell. A reception will be held on 7/17 from 5-7pm. SUMMARY:McLane Center Pollinator Garden in Pictures Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Visit the McLane Center May 7-June 27 to see Kate Osgood’s McLane Center Pollinator Garden in Pictures Exhibit. \n“The pollinator garden at McLane Center is an ever-evolving mosaic of flora and fauna. As a volunteer\, working in the gardens has afforded me the wonderful experience of getting to know the plants and the critters that coexist. My photography attempts to highlight these interactions and to share with human visitors the beauty and the importance of the gardens.” \n  \nBio: Kate Osgood is a landscape architect and nature photographer. Originally from Exeter\, she lived and worked out west for many years before returning to the area. Her work and photography is rooted in natural systems and a deep love of nature. \n“The protection and enhancement of natural systems and wildlife ecology is the driving force behind my designs and photography. SUMMARY:Return to the Sky: A Journey with Tina Morris to Return Bald Eagles to the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge
DESCRIPTION:Join us as Tina Morris\, one of the first women to engage in a raptor reintroduction program\, shares her remarkable story that is as much about the human spirit as it is about birds of prey as she presents her book Return to the Sky. \nTina Morris holding a 1977 eaglet who had just escaped and she returned to the tower.\nAlone in a vast wildlife refuge with little direction and no experience\, a Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology student found herself responsible for a project of historical importance—to bring the Bald Eagle back from near extinction. Ultimately\, Tina spent two years playing “mother” to seven eaglets at Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge\, east of Seneca Falls in New York. Driven by her passion\, she discovered unknown reserves of patience\, determination\, and grit. \nAfterwards\, pick up a copy of the book in our Nature Store and have it signed by Tina! \n(Cover image of Return to the Sky.)

I believe that the more people experience the beauty of nature\, the more likely they are to become invested in its protection and thus foster stewardship for future generations.” \n  \nArt exhibit viewing access may be restricted during private event rentals. Calling ahead to confirm is recommended.
