SUMMARY:Garden Insects - Environmentally Conscious Pest Management

In the event of inclement weather\, the entire presentation will take place indoors. \nCome prepared for a short walk over flat\, uneven grassy terrain.  Sunscreen and bug-repellant (for the humans!) are recommended. \nFor accessibility accommodations\, please contact Massabesic Center Director\, Kimmie Whiteman\, at kwhiteman@nhaudubon.org. \nPresenter:\nKimmie Whiteman\, NH Audubon Massabesic Center Director \nCost:\n$10 for NH Audubon members and UNH-Extension Master Gardeners$15 for non-members (Join or renew your membership today! SUMMARY:The People and the Peregrines Behind the Incredible Ongoing Recovery of Falcons in NH with Chris Martin
DESCRIPTION:Decades of restoration efforts now make it possible trace generations of Peregrines from successful nest sites across the state. Sightings of banded falcons reveal their NH lineages as populations increase. The Manchester falcon nest site that we can see in NH Audubon’s nest cam has produced 70 chicks so far and over half of them have been spotted elsewhere as adults. Hear stories of individual falcons and individual people who monitor them. Through photos\, join Chris on a climb to band chicks – how does he get into the ledges and crevasses to measure and document them year after year? \n“It’s the unsolved mysteries that are important to me now\,” says Chris. “I’m getting multiple sightings of a color banded falcon spotted in Hampton who is the grandson of a Manchester bird via the Newburyport\, Plum Island bridge. Where is he now? Did he move on from Hampton? Is he part of a new breeding pair somewhere\, continuing his lineage?” \nChris Martin has been a raptor biologist for NH Audubon for more than three decades. His work focuses on recovery of the state’s endangered and threatened raptors in close collaboration with NH Fish & Game. He recruits\, trains\, and supervises an enthusiastic group of NH Audubon volunteer field observers who monitor these species across the state. \nThis presentation is available in a hybrid format.  Join us in-person at the Massabesic Center in Auburn\, or virtually via Zoom! Please indicate your preference in the ticket options below. \nThis program will take place rain or shine.  \nPresenter:\nChris Martin\, NH Audubon Senior Biologist – Raptors  \nCost:\n$12 for NH Audubon members\n$15 for non-members (Join or renew your membership today! Not sure of your membership status? Email our member services department or call (603) 224-9909 x310.) \nRegistration Required by May 31\, 2023  \nAll ticket purchases will generate a printable ticket with a QR code. In-person check-in is done via sign-up list; please keep the printable ticket with QR code for your records.  \nZoom links will be sent to all virtual participants prior to the webinar. The link does not generate immediately\, so your patience is appreciated. Every effort will be made to record the presentation for registered attendees who miss the livestream.  \nFor accessibility requests\, please contact Massabesic Center Director\, Kimmie Whiteman\, at kwhiteman@nhaudubon.org.  \nThe NH Audubon Scientist Series features our Senior Biologists sharing their research and data in monthly presentations at Massabesic Center during 2023.  \n
