Welcome to NH Audubon’s Newfound Center Summer 2025 Lead Naturalist, Danielle Fradet!
Danielle Fradet (she/her/hers) is a wildlife biologist with strong interests in avian conservation and science communication. She is a California native who became enthralled with the natural world through reading Zoo Books in her school’s library and watching Steve Irwin on Animal Planet.
She graduated with a B.S. in Wildlife, Fish, & Conservation Biology from UC Davis. Danielle interned for four years as an undergraduate at the UC Davis Museum of Wildlife and Fish Biology (MWFB) and worked as a Junior Specialist at the MWFB for three years post-graduation. Here, she developed a deep appreciation for birds, prepared over 300 specimens across all four vertebrate taxa, managed an avian research program on a private duck club in the Sacramento Valley, conducted terrestrial vertebrate biomonitoring for California Department of Water Resource’s Delta Levees Program, and contributed significantly to the MWFB’s Sacramento Valley Avian Bioinventory. Her relationship continues with MWFB as a research affiliate.
Danielle moved to New England to pursue graduate school. She recently completed her Master of Science in Integrative Biology at the University of New Hampshire, researching how Adélie penguin vocalizations reflect breeding phenology. Her general research interests include the acoustic ecology of birds and the conservation potential of private lands.
Danielle has a strong background in and passion for science communication. She regularly gave tours at the MWFB, worked as an education docent for the Sacramento Zoo, was an outdoor science education camp counselor for the Bohart Museum of Entomology, and organized events for Seacoast Sips of Science. She is excited to use her skillset to provide engaging, positive, and educational experiences for Paradise Point visitors.
In her free time, Danielle enjoys spending time outside. You can find her with a pair of binoculars on a wildlife refuge, looking for salamanders under rocks, or hunting for seaglass at the beach. She also enjoys reading, baking, thrifting, and spending time with friends and family.
