SUMMARY:Winter Sowing of Native Plants
DESCRIPTION:January 7\, 9:30pm – 11:00am \nWinter is a great time to sow native seeds. Many native seeds need to be exposed to prolonged cold and moist conditions to break their dormancy and germinate. Join us as we introduce you to native plants and guide you through this hands-on\, 6-step process.  You’ll leave with a pot of native perennial seeds that will grow all year and be ready to plant in your garden next fall. \nPresenters:\nDonna Miller\, UNH Extension Advanced Master Gardener\nStacey Scaccia\, UNH Extension Master Gardener \nCost:\n$10 for NH Audubon members and UNH Ext Master Gardeners\n$15 for non-members \nREGISTER HERE \nRegistration Required by January 5\, 2023 \nSnow cancellation notifications will be determined and sent on January 6th. \nPresentation will take place indoors. SUMMARY:Seed Starting for Home Gardeners
DESCRIPTION:January 25\, 2023 6:30pm – 8:00pm \nAttendees will learn the benefits and best practices for starting plants indoors from seeds and cuttings. Participants will learn about requirements for successful germination\, different growing methods and mediums\, light and temperature needs\, overcoming common problems\, hardening off seedlings for transplanting into the garden\, and best practices to ensure seedlings successfully grow into healthy mature plants. \nThis workshop is designed for beginning gardeners or gardeners who are new to raising plants from seeds\, but all experience levels are welcome to join and learn. \nPresenter:\nSarah Marcoux has been a UNH Extension Master Gardener since 2016. She is an active member of the Master Gardener Speakers Bureau\, sharing her knowledge with other gardeners across the state. Her special interests are herb gardens\, working with children and educational gardens. She also enjoys vegetable and pollinator gardens. \nCost: Free – Pre-registration is required. SUMMARY:New Hampshire's Winter Birds with Dr. Pamela Hunt
DESCRIPTION:NH Audubon’s “Backyard Winter Bird Survey” is a citizen science project that has been collecting data on the state’s birds since 1967. In this in-person program\, Dr. Pamela Hunt uses the Survey’s data to illustrate how populations of our common winter birds have been changing over time.
