DESCRIPTION:Nature is all around us and artist Diane Crespo is drawn to capturing the essence of the landscape in her vivid oil paintings. From the mountains to the sea\, all across New England\, nature’s beauty is\never-changing and beckons to be painted. Certain elements such as water can bring about a feeling of calm in the ebb and flow of tidal marshes\, while the sky and light help to describe form and design that is\, in itself simple and complex. The changing seasons offer an abundance of opportunity to view the dappling of shadows across a field of green or the cool shadows laden on a winter’s snow. In ‘Painting the Natural Landscape’ you will discover scenes across New England through the eyes of the artist. \nBio: Diane Crespo is an academically trained landscape painter living in Southeast New Hampshire. She earned her BFA from New Hampshire Institute of Art in 2011. Prior to pursuing a fine art degree\, Diane painted only with pastels\, taking classes with a local pastel teacher. Diane paints primarily in oils and pastels\, and commonly paints over acrylic under-paintings or tonal under-paintings with oil paint. When her schedule allows\, Diane will start a painting outdoors and finish it in the studio or she will use it as a study for a future studio painting. \nLiving in New England\, there is endless inspiration for Diane’s paintings. As a nature lover\, Diane sees beauty from the coast to the mountains while she’s either walking the beach or hiking in the White Mountains. Diane’s paintings are in private collections worldwide\, many of which have been commissioned landscapes as well as pet portraits. Trillions of organisms live\, forage\, and migrate through this medium\, yet rarely is this space considered a primary habitat for ecological or conservation prioritization. Presenter Dr. Kyle Horton’s seminar will overview advances from the Colorado State University Aeroecology Lab\, highlighting insights into bird stopover mapping\, migration timing\, and r quantification of the aerial niche. \nBio: Kyle Horton\, Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator at the Aeroecology Lab\, has a B.S. in Biology from Canisius College\, an M.S. in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Delaware\, and a PhD. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Oklahoma. From the mountains to the sea\, all across New England\, nature’s beauty is\never-changing and beckons to be painted. Certain elements such as water can bring about a feeling of calm in the ebb and flow of tidal marshes\, while the sky and light help to describe form and design that is\, in itself simple and complex. The changing seasons offer an abundance of opportunity to view the dappling of shadows across a field of green or the cool shadows laden on a winter’s snow. In ‘Painting the Natural Landscape’ you will discover scenes across New England through the eyes of the artist. \nBio: Diane Crespo is an academically trained landscape painter living in Southeast New Hampshire. She earned her BFA from New Hampshire Institute of Art in 2011. Prior to pursuing a fine art degree\, Diane painted only with pastels\, taking classes with a local pastel teacher. Diane paints primarily in oils and pastels\, and commonly paints over acrylic under-paintings or tonal under-paintings with oil paint. When her schedule allows\, Diane will start a painting outdoors and finish it in the studio or she will use it as a study for a future studio painting. \nLiving in New England\, there is endless inspiration for Diane’s paintings. As a nature lover\, Diane sees beauty from the coast to the mountains while she’s either walking the beach or hiking in the White Mountains. DESCRIPTION:The Spring 2025 Brockway Wee Explorers program series begins with a lesson on winter! Accompany your 3-5 year-old to the preserve to learn about what wildlife does during chilly New Hampshire winters. \nThis is an outdoor location with no bathroom facilities. Please dress children for the weather and be ready to walk on the trail\, sit on logs and the ground\, and dig in the snow and dirt! \nPlease plan to arrive about 5 minutes early to ensure the program starts on time. Programs will be canceled if poor weather is predicted during the program time; participants will be notified via email of cancellations. \nFor detailed directions to the preserve\, search for Brockway Pond on Google Maps or visit here. \nThis program is free\, with a suggested donation of $5 which can be made with cash in person or by visiting our donation page. SUMMARY:Wildlife of New Hampshire Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:From the majestic White Mountains of the North\, to the rocky shores of the New Hampshire coast\, and even simply in his own backyard\, Cameron has searched far and wide to document the different species that inhabit the Granite State. From incredibly rare vagrant birds\, to the most common species you’d see walking down the street\, these photographs hope to show off the breadth of ecological diversity close to home. Each photo comes with a story: some are harrowing trips that took weeks to plan\, others just involve pure\, dumb luck\, but each encounter created an unforgettable moment. \nExamples of Cameron’s work.\nBio: Cameron is a wildlife photographer and a resident of Dover\, New Hampshire. He got his start in photography as a concert photographer and a photojournalist and developed a passion for birding during the summer of 2021. He now spends his free time helping run the New Hampshire Rare Bird Alert Groupme\, volunteering with New Hampshire Audubon and the Harris Center\, and photographing as much wildlife as possible.

SUMMARY:Painting the Natural Landscape Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Nature is all around us and artist Diane Crespo is drawn to capturing the essence of the landscape in her vivid oil paintings. From the mountains to the sea\, all across New England\, nature’s beauty is\never-changing and beckons to be painted. Certain elements such as water can bring about a feeling of calm in the ebb and flow of tidal marshes\, while the sky and light help to describe form and design that is\, in itself simple and complex. The changing seasons offer an abundance of opportunity to view the dappling of shadows across a field of green or the cool shadows laden on a winter’s snow. In ‘Painting the Natural Landscape’ you will discover scenes across New England through the eyes of the artist. \nBio: Diane Crespo is an academically trained landscape painter living in Southeast New Hampshire. She earned her BFA from New Hampshire Institute of Art in 2011. Prior to pursuing a fine art degree\, Diane painted only with pastels\, taking classes with a local pastel teacher. Diane paints primarily in oils and pastels\, and commonly paints over acrylic under-paintings or tonal under-paintings with oil paint. When her schedule allows\, Diane will start a painting outdoors and finish it in the studio or she will use it as a study for a future studio painting. \nLiving in New England\, there is endless inspiration for Diane’s paintings. As a nature lover\, Diane sees beauty from the coast to the mountains while she’s either walking the beach or hiking in the White Mountains. Diane’s paintings are in private collections worldwide\, many of which have been commissioned landscapes as well as pet portraits. Painting animals in pastel is also one of Diane’s passions. “Pastels are the perfect medium to achieve the softness of the fur.”Her paintings can be viewed in person by appointment or by chance at Diane Crespo Fine Art\, located at 27 Front Street\, Exeter\, New Hampshire\, or at many yearly shows she participates in. \n“My landscapes take viewers to many places\, some are familiar\, some are dreamlike….”\n~Diane Crespo

SUMMARY:Garden Strong – How to Stay Healthy as a Gardener
DESCRIPTION:Description: Are you a gardener who spends so much time digging\, weeding\, watering\, and hauling mulch that you are sore and tired at the end of the day? Learn some simple and important techniques for reducing stress on your body so you can garden without pain or injury. You’ll also be introduced to some adaptive tools that will make gardening easier for anyone. Gardening strong and smart is the key to being able to continue to grow plants for many years. \nPresenters: Patti Buck\, retired Physical Therapist and UNH Extension Master Gardener and Doris Buco\, certified Therapeutic Horticulturalist and UNH Extension Master Gardener \nCost: $10 for NH Audubon members/Extension Master Gardeners; $15 for non-members. \nRegistration Required by: January 29.
