DESCRIPTION:Kate Osgood’s photography documents A Garden Story – The pollinator garden at the McLane Center\, taking us through the life cycle of the garden\, from buds to birds and all of the changes\, and visitors\, in between. \nThere will be an artists reception on April 11\, from 4-6pm. \nA volunteer at the McLane pollinator garden\, Kate loves to document its beauty and changes through her photography. A lifelong lover of nature\, she has shown this love through her work as a landscape architect and through her photography. She studied botany at UNH and landscape architecture at UCLA and is licensed in both CA and NH. DESCRIPTION:An encore of the very popular Pickering Ponds walk on May 14. One of the top 10 birding spots in New Hampshire\, this walk will traverse Rochester city park trails along the Cocheco River and around the former wastewater treatment settling ponds. Meet at the Pickering Ponds parking area at 7am. The entrance is about a mile south of the Rochester Wastewater Treatment Plant on Pickering Road (opposite mailbox #374). DESCRIPTION:Join NH Audubon for a birding walk along the trails at Massabesic Center in Auburn. \nThis is an informal birding walk that begins at the Center and explores the trails with local birder\, Joe Mahoney. All ages and skill levels of birders are welcome. If you are new to birding\, come and learn the basics! If you are an avid birder\, come to learn new techniques\, network with other birders\, or share your expertise with the group. \nBinocular rental included with ticket. Please dress for the weather\, with sturdy shoes. Expect to walk between 1-2 miles over mostly flat\, but uneven trails through grassy and wooded terrain. DESCRIPTION:Join Steve Mirick for a presentation on the butterflies of NH. Learn about the lives of butterflies and what species we have and where to find them in the State. We’ll also discuss some tips on field guides\, binoculars\, photography and gardening for butterflies. \nThe Seacoast Chapter meets monthly on the second Wednesday except the months of July and August unless there is a special program. Refreshments are served at 7 pm and the meetings begin at 7:30 pm unless otherwise noted (entrance doors locked at 7:45 pm). The public is welcome free of charge. In person meetings are held at the Seacoast Science Center at Odiorne State Park\, Route 1A\, Rye\, NH. Wheelchair accessible. SUMMARY:Raised Bed Gardens - The Why and How
DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in creating raised bed gardens but don’t know where to start? Join Sean O’Brien\, UNH Extension’s Home Horticulture Assistant Program Manager\, for a two-part workshop\, including an introduction to the benefits of raised bed gardens and an in-person\, hands-on session to build wooden raised bed gardens. You’ll go away with skills and knowledge about location\, material selection\, construction methods\, and how to grow various plants in raised beds. \nPart 1 \nThe first part of the workshop will be virtual\, and is available at no cost.  There is no registration limit for the webinar\, but you must sign up by May 1st.  Participation in the virtual introduction session is required in order to attend the second session. \nPart 2 \nThe in-person\, hands-on portion has a limited capacity of 20 participants. If you are not able to attend the required webinar live\, you must still register for Part 1 and view the recorded presentation before you arrive to the workshop. SUMMARY:BBW Deer Hill Wildlife Management Area
DESCRIPTION:Bird the varied habitats of the Deer Hill Wildlife Management Area with trip leader  Scott Heron. With 188 species seen on the property\, in the spring Deer Hill can be full of migrating passerines and breeding water birds. Meet at the entrance gate on Pine Road in Brentwood. Visit the Seacoast Chapter website for event details and to sign up. \n  \nBeginner Bird Walks (BBW)  \nThe NH Audubon Seacoast Chapter will have five Beginner Bird Walks (BBW) this spring\, 2023. Although these walks are geared with the beginner birder in mind\, birders of all levels of expertise are encouraged to participate and share their experiences. Children are gladly welcome with an adult. Participants should be fully vaccinated and are encouraged to bring binoculars\, water\, insect repellent\, and sunscreen. \n

SUMMARY:Love Our Planet Art Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The Manchester Artists Association presents Love Our Planet – a Spring exhibit to celebrate Earth Day with art that showcases the beauty of the natural world and the wondrous wildlife that share this planet with us. To help support environmental protection and the NH Audubon mission\, thirteen talented artists will be exhibiting over 30 original pieces in various mediums including oils\, watercolors\, acrylics\, pastel\, mixed media\, pen and ink\, pencil\, and photography. \nThe Manchester Artists Association (MAA) was formed in 1966 to provide fellowship\, learning and inspiration to artists who are engaged or interested in the pursuit of fine art. \nLove Our Planet has been extended and will now be on view at the Massabesic Center from Wednesday\, March 1\, 2023 through Thursday\, June 1. SUMMARY:Raised Bed Gardens - The Why and How
DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in creating raised bed gardens but don’t know where to start? Join Sean O’Brien\, UNH Extension’s Home Horticulture Assistant Program Manager\, for a two-part workshop\, including an introduction to the benefits of raised bed gardens and an in-person\, hands-on session to build wooden raised bed gardens. You’ll go away with skills and knowledge about location\, material selection\, construction methods\, and how to grow various plants in raised beds. \nPart 1 \nThe first part of the workshop will be virtual\, and is available at no cost.  There is no registration limit for the webinar\, but you must sign up by May 1st.  Participation in the virtual introduction session is required in order to attend the second session. \nPart 2 \nThe in-person\, hands-on portion has a limited capacity of 20 participants. If you are not able to attend the required webinar live\, you must still register for Part 1 and view the recorded presentation before you arrive to the workshop. DESCRIPTION:Kate Osgood’s photography documents A Garden Story – The pollinator garden at the McLane Center\, taking us through the life cycle of the garden\, from buds to birds and all of the changes\, and visitors\, in between. \nThere will be an artists reception on April 11\, from 4-6pm. \nA volunteer at the McLane pollinator garden\, Kate loves to document its beauty and changes through her photography. A lifelong lover of nature\, she has shown this love through her work as a landscape architect and through her photography. She studied botany at UNH and landscape architecture at UCLA and is licensed in both CA and NH. Having a keen interest in using native plants in the built environment\, volunteering at the pollinator garden is a perfect fit both to get away from the computer and to experience the life cycles of the plants first hand. \n“I have long been an admirer of the pollinator garden program of the NH Audubon Society and hopefully this photography collection will inspire folks to explore this program and create a garden at their own homes.” \nFor more of Kate Osgood’s photography\, please see her Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/kateosgooddesigns/
