For printing\, the blocks are rolled with ink\, and paper is pressed onto them with a barren and body weight. When pulled up\, the paper includes a reverse image of the block. All prints have natural variances in tone due to human touch\, which is what makes them special. \n \nArt exhibit viewing access may be restricted during private event rentals. Calling ahead to confirm is recommended. \nBio: Bethany is a public school teacher and linocut printmaker living in Concord. Her prints feature a whimsical array of plants and animals native to New Hampshire. In addition to printing on paper\, she upcycles thrifted clothing with hand-printed patches and scrap quilted appliqué pieces. SUMMARY:Birding Outing at the Massabesic Center
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a birding outing on the trails of the Massabesic Center! Led by local birder and NH Audubon volunteer Joe Mahoney\, this walk will focus on bird species that are early returners to New Hampshire in spring\, including Canada Geese\, Tree Swallows\, and Red-Winged Blackbirds. We will meet at the front doors of the Massabesic Center to begin. Please contact Director of Education Lauren Betz with any questions. \nThis is a free event with binocular rentals available. Please dress for the weather\, with sturdy shoes. Expect to walk between 1-2 miles over mostly flat\, but uneven trails through grassy and wooded terrain. Trails may be soggy\, snowy\, or icy. DESCRIPTION:There’s no rule saying you can’t grow your carrots next to your cosmos\, so why is it that we feel the need to separate our flowers from our food? Join Willa Coroka of The Magpie’s Apprentice to discuss the variety of ways you can incorporate edible crops amongst your pre-existing or future flower gardens. From peppers tucked amongst the peonies\, to kiwis winding along the front porch\, there are so many ways to make your yard appealing to both eyes as well as tummies. Foodscaping is revolutionizing yards across the country. Let’s figure out if this new trend can catch on in your neighborhood! \nCost:\n$10 for NH Audubon members and UNH Ext. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a birding outing at Horseshoe Pond! This birding hotspot is a prime example of an oxbow lake\, and is particularly notable for its waterfowl sightings. Species seen at this spot in the past in late March include Canada Geese\, Ring-necked Ducks\, and Hooded Mergansers. \nThis is an informal birding outing led by former NH Audubon biologist Mark Suomala. All ages and skill levels of birders are welcome. If you are new to birding\, come and learn the basics! If you are an avid birder\, come to learn new techniques\, network with other birders\, or share your expertise with the group. We will meet at the parking lot on the corner of Commercial St. and Delta Drive. A NH Audubon educator will email more details before the event. DESCRIPTION:(Rescheduled from original February 21 date.) \nJoin NH Audubon Senior Biologist Diane DeLuca as she guides us through the steps for creating a wildlife friendly sanctuary in our own backyards. We’ll learn about the needs of pollinators\, birds\, and other animals that you can attract to your yard\, and why it’s so important to support wildlife with natural habitat. We’ll discuss maximizing year round sources for food and shelter using native plants\, water sources\, and other features. We’ll talk about threats facing our local wildlife\, including pesticides and habitat loss\, and how we can individually make a big\, lasting impact on protecting these species long term. You’ll reap the rewards as you enjoy wildlife watching from your own window for years to come. \nThis in-person presentation will take place entirely indoors at the Massabesic Center\, in the main conference room. Dress for the weather for the short\, easy walk from the dirt parking lot to the building. This program is intended for adults. Children are welcome\, however in the event of disruptions\, we ask that children are accompanied by a guardian to enjoy the Nature Lab or gardens until the presentation concludes. DESCRIPTION:The snow is melting and we can see more colors. We’re going to learn what happens when spring comes! \nJoin New Hampshire Audubon at the John Brockway Nature Preserve in Hopkinton to explore nature with your 3-5 year old! Programs will begin at 10 a.m. and last about 45 minutes each. This is an outdoor location with no bathroom facilities. Please dress children for the weather and be ready to walk on the trail\, sit on logs and the ground\, and dig in the dirt! \nPrograms will be cancelled if poor weather is predicted during the program; participants will be notified by email or phone of cancellations. \nFor detailed directions to the preserve\, search for Brockway Pond on Google Maps\, or visit here. Please plan to arrive about 5 minutes prior to the program so that sessions can start on time. \nThis program is free\, with a suggested $5 donation to support NH Audubon’s Annual Fund. DESCRIPTION:Join NH Audubon for a birding outing along the trails at the McLane Center! McLane is home to grassland\, forest\, and freshwater habitats. We will look for migrating birds such as Tree Swallows\, Pine Warblers\, and Wood Ducks. \nThis is an informal birding outing that begins at the center parking lot and explores the trails with local birder and NH Audubon volunteer Joe Mahoney. All ages and skill levels of birders are welcome. If you are new to birding\, come and learn the basics! If you are an avid birder\, come to learn new techniques\, network with other birders\, or share your expertise with the group. \nThis is a free event. Binocular rental is provided. Please dress for the weather\, with sturdy shoes. Expect to walk between 1-2 miles over varied trails with some elevation change through grassy and wooded terrain. Trails may be soggy or muddy in the rainy season. DESCRIPTION:The Wildlife and Landscape of New England by Jason Davini \nThis exhibit runs at the Massabesic Center in Auburn from March 5-April 29\, 2026. \nDescription: This show will feature the landscapes and animals that Jason has come across over the decades of his picture-taking. From Sunrises at the beaches and mountains\, to the smallest animals\, Jason has almost seen it all. Each picture was taken by Jason\, after countless hours of waiting for the perfect moment. \nExamples of Jason’s photography. DESCRIPTION:Party Animals by Bethany Clarke \nThis exhibit runs at the McLane Center in Concord from March 11-May 2\, 2026. \nDescription: Handprinted linocuts featuring an array of native New Hampshire plants and animals. The images are all initially sketched by hand and then transferred onto linoleum blocks. They are then carved with a blade. For printing\, the blocks are rolled with ink\, and paper is pressed onto them with a barren and body weight. When pulled up\, the paper includes a reverse image of the block. All prints have natural variances in tone due to human touch\, which is what makes them special. \n \nArt exhibit viewing access may be restricted during private event rentals. Calling ahead to confirm is recommended. \nBio: Bethany is a public school teacher and linocut printmaker living in Concord. Her prints feature a whimsical array of plants and animals native to New Hampshire. In addition to printing on paper\, she upcycles thrifted clothing with hand-printed patches and scrap quilted appliqué pieces. Her studio is in her basement\, where her two cats like to assist in the creative process.

SUMMARY:Ecology and Conservation of Grassland Bird program with the Seacoast Chapter
DESCRIPTION:Ecology and Conservation of Grassland Bird – Wednesday\, April 8 \nGrassland birds such as the Bobolink and Eastern Meadowlark are declining throughout their ranges. In this talk\, we review the history and ecology of these species\, with a focus on New Hampshire and the Northeast US\, then shift to the conservation challenges they face and some of the things people can do to overcome these threats. \nBio: Pam Hunt has been interested in birds since the tender age of 12\, when an uncle took her to Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge in NJ. She went on to earn a B.S. in biology from Cornell University\, M.A. in zoology from the University of Montana\, and then a Ph.D. from Dartmouth College in 1995. Pam came to NH Audubon in 2000 after five years as adjunct faculty at Colby-Sawyer College in New London\, NH. In her current position as Avian Conservation Biologist\, she works closely with NH Fish and Game to coordinate and prioritize bird research and monitoring in the state\, and also authored NH’s “State of the Birds” report. Specific areas of interest include habitat use by early successional birds (particularly whip-poor-wills)\, conservation of aerial insectivores (e.g.\, swifts and swallows)\, and the effects of events outside the breeding season on long-distance migrants. Pam also coordinated the “NH Dragonfly Survey\,” a five-year project that mapped distributions of these insects throughout the state and remains active in the dragonfly field. \nContact: Dan Hubbard\, 603 978-0218\, danielhubbard@peoplepc.com
