DESCRIPTION:This program examines the dramatic Bald Eagle population recovery in New Hampshire and describes management efforts and partnerships that have helped eagles. Chris Martin has been a raptor biologist for NH Audubon for more than three decades. His work focuses on recovery of the state’s endangered and threatened raptors in close collaboration with NH Fish & Game. He recruits\, trains\, and supervises an enthusiastic corps of NH Audubon volunteer field observers who monitor these species across the state.   \nThis presentation is available in a hybrid format.  You are welcome to join us in-person at the Massabesic Center in Auburn\, or virtually via Zoom! DESCRIPTION:Composting is the process of recycling organic debris into material that both reduces items in the waste stream and creates a useful garden product. SUMMARY:Birding Walk at Massabesic Center
DESCRIPTION:Join NH Audubon for a bird-watching walk along the trails at the Massabesic Center in Auburn. Your guide will be Joe Mahoney\, an active bird-watcher for more than 15 years who has traveled all around the country to find and study birds. Joe works in public education and he enjoys teaching and sharing his enthusiasm for birds and nature with people of all ages. All skill levels are welcome. If you are new to bird-watching\, come and learn the basics. If you are an avid birder\, come to share your expertise with the group and compare notes with Joe. \nBinocular rental included with ticket. Please dress for the weather\, with sturdy shoes. Expect to walk up to 1 mile over mostly flat\, but uneven trails through grassy and wooded terrain. DESCRIPTION:Join the NH Audubon Seacoast Chapter for their September in-person program: Outlawing Extinction: The Fight Over The Endangered Species Act in the 1970s \nFifty years ago\, Congress passed overwhelmingly the most powerful legislation in the world to protect endangered species – and almost instantly many members regretted doing so. In this illustrated lecture\, historian Kurk Dorsey will analyze the origins of the Endangered Species Act of 1973 and the legal battles that defined what the law really has meant. Kurk Dorsey is the chair of the Department of History at the University of New Hampshire\, where he teaches environmental history and tries to save the study of history from extinction. \nIn person meetings are held at the Seacoast Science Center at Odiorne State Park\, Route 1A\, Rye\, NH. Wheelchair accessible. For more information on chapter programs\, please contact: Dan Hubbard. Cancellations will be posted on the Seacoast Chapter website.
