SUMMARY:An Experiment in Birding
DESCRIPTION:Two friends\, Stacey Huth and Noah Gibb\, decided to embark on a birding big year in 2025. They set their geography to only the state of Maine and set their time parameters to only those birds they could get to during day trips. By relying on an intricate plan\, lots of coffee and pizza\, and their fellow birding community to put the call out about rare sightings and vagrants\, Stacey and Noah broke the Maine record (previously at 325 species) and documented a staggering 332 bird species during the year. Join them to learn more about their journey and how they tackled challenges like weather\, full-time jobs\, family obligations\, and a desire to ensure their records were documented in an ethical way. Stacey and Noah will begin with a book signing and then a presentation about their big year. Books will be available to purchase at the event. \n \n“An Experiment in Birding” is free to attend. If you feel inspired to support New Hampshire Audubon’s work\, please consider a gift to our Annual Fund at nhaudubon.org/donate. Your contribution supports priorities like environmental education for people of all ages across NH\, stewardship of nearly 10\,000 acres of conserved habitat\, science-based environmental policy and advocacy\, and statewide conservation research and wildlife monitoring.

SUMMARY:NH Audubon Fourth Quarter Book Club Meeting - Rebugging the Planet: The Remarkable Things that Insects (and Other Invertebrates) Do And Why We Need to Love Them More by Vicki Hird
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 2026 fourth quarter NH Audubon book club book discussion via Zoom of Rebugging the Planet. In this book\, author Vicki Hird passionately demonstrates how insects and invertebrates are the cornerstone of our global ecosystem. They pollinate plants\, feed birds\, support and defend our food crops\, and clean our water systems. They are also beautiful\, inventive\, and economically invaluable. Rebugging the Planet shows us small changes we can make to have a big impact on our littlest allies. The meeting\, facilitated by Community Outreach Coordinator Anita Fernandez\, will focus on themes\, reactions\, and takeaways from this book. \nPurchase this title through NH Audubon’s Nature Stores (at the Massabesic or McLane Center) and mention the book club to receive a 10% discount. If you purchase all four 2026 book club books\, you will receive an even larger discount. You can also purchase this title online at https://nh-audubon-nature-store.myshopify.com/products/rebugging-the-planet-by-vicki-hird. \nThe other book club books and their meeting dates are as follows: \n\nMarch 12\, 2026 – Everyone’s Trash: One Man Against 1.6 Billion Pounds by Duncan Watson\nMay 14\, 2026 – The Feather Detective: Mystery\, Mayhem\, and the Magnificent Life of Roxie Laybourne by Chris Sweeney\nAugust 13\, 2026 – Forest Euphoria: The Abounding Queerness of Nature by Patricia Ononiwu Kaishian\n\nPlease RSVP below and you will receive the Zoom link and a list of discussion questions before the meeting.
