SUMMARY:A Garden Story Photography Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Kate Osgood’s photography documents A Garden Story – The pollinator garden at the McLane Center\, taking us through the life cycle of the garden\, from buds to birds and all of the changes\, and visitors\, in between. \nThere will be an artists reception on April 11\, from 4-6pm. \nA volunteer at the McLane pollinator garden\, Kate loves to document its beauty and changes through her photography. A lifelong lover of nature\, she has shown this love through her work as a landscape architect and through her photography. She studied botany at UNH and landscape architecture at UCLA and is licensed in both CA and NH. Having a keen interest in using native plants in the built environment\, volunteering at the pollinator garden is a perfect fit both to get away from the computer and to experience the life cycles of the plants first hand. \n“I have long been an admirer of the pollinator garden program of the NH Audubon Society and hopefully this photography collection will inspire folks to explore this program and create a garden at their own homes.” \nFor more of Kate Osgood’s photography\, please see her Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/kateosgooddesigns/

SUMMARY:Rain Gardens - What are They and Why are They Important?
DESCRIPTION:April 13\, 5:00pm – 6:30pm \nA rain garden is a beautiful landscape feature built in a shallow depression designed to capture the rain. Did you know that rain gardens help reduce water pollution? Join us to learn all about rain gardens\, including why people are loving them\, how to build them\, which plants to use\, and more. We’ll discuss other ways to capture the rain too\, and why that’s so important. As a bonus\, we’ll hear from Master Gardeners who have recently rehabbed the on-site rain garden! After the presentation\, we’ll head outside to see and further discuss the rain garden. \nPresenters:\nLisa Loosigian\, Soak Up the Rain NH Program Coordinator\, NHDES\nBrian McPherson\, UNH Extension Master Gardener\nBetty Jipson\, UNH Extension Master Gardener \nCost:\n$10 for NH Audubon members and Extension Master Gardeners\n$15 for non-members \nREGISTER HERE \nRegistration Required by April 10\, 2023 \nPresentation will take place indoors\, rain or shine.  Outdoor portion will take place unless there is heavy rain; come prepared to be outside for 10-15 minutes. \nFor reasonable accommodation requests\, please contact Massabesic Center Director\, Kimmie Whiteman\, at kwhiteman@nhaudubon.org. \nThis program is brought to you through an on-going partnership between New Hampshire Audubon and University of New Hampshire Extension’s Master Gardener Program. The Demonstration Gardens at NH Audubon’s Massabesic Center provide a place for sharing best practices in eco-friendly home and community gardening\, which enhance human health and well-being and wildlife habitat.  \nPhoto: Massabesic’s Rain Garden\, Brian McPherson
