DESCRIPTION:August 5\, 2025. \nWhat’s the Scoop on Saw-Whets? \nLindsay Herlihy (NH Audubon/Black Mountain Banding Station) \nNorthern Saw-whet Owls are the smallest nocturnal raptor in New England. These fierce\, tiny predators have a secretive nature that makes them challenging to study. Saw-whets are also one of the few owl species in North America which undertake an annual migration in fall and spring. So\, how do biologists study owls and what do we know about Saw-whets in New Hampshire? Join biologist Lindsay Herlihy to learn more about the natural history of Northern Saw-whet Owls and discover how researchers are investigating the migratory behavior of this incredible species. \nHeld on Tuesdays\, 7:00–8:15 pm\nJoin us for our Newfound Nature Series (the new name for our beloved Red Barn Speaker Series) on Tuesday evenings.
