SUMMARY:Using Wildlife Cameras for Classroom Science - Newfound Nature Series - July 29
DESCRIPTION:July 29\, 2025 \nUsing Wildlife Cameras for Classroom Science \nDr. Mirka Zapletal (Newfound Lake Region Association) \nDuring the 2024-2025 school year\, the Newfound Lake Region Association worked with the Newfound Area School District and other community organizations to give students direct experience with wildlife research. By setting out pairs of wildlife cameras at sites around the watershed in spring\, summer\, and fall and then cataloging the images that were captured\, students helped NLRA gather data on local wildlife species and contributed to field research. There were surprises\, disappointments\, and some challenging graphs\, and students had a chance to look at local habitats and wildlife in a new way. \nHeld on Tuesdays\, 7:00–8:15 pm\nJoin us for our Newfound Nature Series (the new name for our beloved Red Barn Speaker Series) on Tuesday evenings. The series is now held at Grey Rocks and co-hosted by the Newfound Lake Region Association (NLRA). Registration is not necessary – just come and join us for an evening’s entertainment! \nThank you to our season sponsors: John S. Jordan Design\, and the Hebron Conservation Commission.
