SUMMARY:Coastal Migration
DESCRIPTION:The trip will be a long walk around the varied habitats of Odiorne Point State Park\, the top birding hotspot in New Hampshire. We will look for the expected fall migrants and perhaps even a rarity or two. Meet at the Odiorne Point parking lot at 8:15 (the park opens at 8:00). A small entrance fee for the park is required. SUMMARY:Birding Outing at the Massabesic Center
DESCRIPTION:Join NH Audubon for a birding outing along the trails at the Massabesic Center in Auburn\, NH. We will meet at the front doors of the main building. \nThis is an informal birding outing that begins at Massabesic Center trailhead and explores the trails with local birder and Massabesic Center Advisory Committee member\, Joe Mahoney. All ages and skill levels of birders are welcome. If you are new to birding\, come and learn the basics! If you are an avid birder\, come to learn new techniques\, network with other birders\, or share your expertise with the group. \nThe Massabesic Wildlife Refuge is home to many species who prefer open space and lakeshore habitats. You may see species such as Eastern Bluebirds\, Tree Swallows\, Red-shouldered Hawks\, Common Loons\, and Bald Eagles in the fields and on the lake. \nThis is a free event. Binocular rental is provided. Please dress for the weather\, with sturdy shoes. Expect to walk between 1-2 miles over mostly flat\, but uneven trails through grassy and wooded terrain. Trails may be soggy or muddy in the rainy season. Dogs are not allowed on this walk.

SUMMARY:Harvest of Arts Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The Manchester Artists Association and the Massabesic Audubon Center present “Harvest of Arts”\, an exhibit to celebrate art and nature’s beauty. Fifteen artists have gathered a cornucopia of original paintings and photographs that capture the iconic images and colors of autumn in New England. \nThe exhibit will run from August 31st to November 1st. All artwork is available for sale. \nExamples from the “Harvest of Arts” exhibit. SUMMARY:Native New Hampshire Birds Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:“Native New Hampshire Birds” Exhibit: September 12-November 2 \nArtist Shannon Bender has enjoyed creating from a young age. The journey for this series started last year. She wanted to create a theme that Upper Valley residents could relate to. Being in an area with so many that take part in bird watching with a variation of birds\, she thought\, “What a joy for people to see some of the many species that we have here in a painting series.” \nIn addition\, the exhibition displays the different characteristics of each bird. Each original piece takes anywhere between 17-65 hours of strategic feather painting and many layers of acrylic which bring the painting to its final resting state. \n(Collage of paintings from the exhibit\, by Shannon Bender.)\nBio: Shannon is an alumnus of Canaan Elementary School and Mascoma HighSchool. She studied Fine Arts at Lassell College in Massachusetts for a time. \nIn the Mascoma District\, she worked as a Special Paraeducator for 10 years. She is now a certified Special Paraeducator at the Hanover Street School in Lebanon\, New Hampshire. \nShe is a local artist\, residing in Enfield\, NH. Her favorite mediums are pencil\, acrylic\, and tempera paints.
