SUMMARY:The Balm for the Wounds We Bear Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Visit the McLane Center to see “The Balm for the Wounds We Bear” exhibit by Kathleen H. Peters! Kathleen works with many mediums as an artist – such as pottery\, pastels\, paint\, cement\, wood\, metal\, and glass. This exhibit showcases her paintings and appreciation for the beauty of simple things. Kathleen shares that her technical background in engineering has lead to her understanding material properties of the mediums she works with\, allowing her to be precise and produce high quality works of art. She believes this skill allows her to fulfill her “greatest desire: to enrich the lives of others.” This exhibit will be in Concord from September 20\, 2023 to December 20\, 2023. \nThe Rookery by Kathleen Peters.\nVisit Kathleen’s website for more information on her background and art. \n

SUMMARY:Tracking the Signs of the Season: Exploring Phenology with Diane De Luca
DESCRIPTION:What do budding wildflowers\, metamorphosing frogs\, and migrating hawks have in common? They are all undergoing life cycle phases that can be affected by climate change. Have you ever made notes about the first peeper you heard calling\, the arrival of your first warbler\, or your first sighting of a mourning cloak butterfly? Then you have been monitoring phenology! Documenting stories in our own backyards contributes to the impacts of climate change. This online presentation will share a nationwide effort to monitor these life cycle events\, the phenology project at NH Audubon\, and opportunities for you to get involved.  \nThis presentation will take place virtually via Zoom. \nPresenter:\nDiane De Luca\, Senior Biologist \nCost:\n$12 for NH Audubon members\n$15 for non-members (Join or renew your membership today! Not sure of your membership status? Email our member services department or call (603) 224-9909 x310.) \nRegistration Required by October 25\, 2023  \nThis event has been rescheduled from the original date of February 23rd. \nAll ticket purchases will generate a printable ticket with a QR code. Please keep the printable ticket with QR code for your records.  \nZoom links will be sent to all virtual participants prior to the webinar. The link does not generate immediately\, so your patience is appreciated. Every effort will be made to record the presentation for registered attendees who miss the livestream.  \nFor accessibility requests\, please contact Massabesic Center Director\, Kimmie Whiteman\, at kwhiteman@nhaudubon.org.  \nThe NH Audubon Scientist Series features our Senior Biologists sharing their research and data in monthly presentations at Massabesic Center during 2023.
